FAQs
What is the CL-150?
The CL-150 Technology Matrix for Critical Languages (CL-150) provides a comprehensive, constantly evolving suite of software, content, and services designed to support the full spectrum of defense, intelligence, and other US government requirements for language, regional, and cultural training and assessment.
Who can register as a licensee?
CL-150 Community Licenses are available to any US government organization or agency that wants to set up a licensed community, and anyone who is a member of such a community can register as a licensee to use the CL-150 resources.
Some organizations require their members to receive an authorization code from an administrator before registering, while others allow their members to access the CL-150 Portal via their own portal without authorization codes.
If you have questions about how your organization accesses the CL-150 Portal, or if you aren't sure whether your organization is part of a CL-150 Community, contact your Administration Office. If your organization has not set up a CL-150 User Community and might benefit from doing so, ask your Administration Office to contact us at
info@transparent.com to learn more about becoming a CL-150 Community.
Why would I want to register?
The software and content available through the CL-150 Portal can benefit any language learner. The main reason that people register with this site, therefore, is because they need or want to learn a foreign language. In the case of US government personnel, this need often arises as a result of an assignment that requires living or working abroad for some period of time. If you are a member of a US government organization or agency in this situation, you may want to register and use this site to take advantage of our language resources.
If you are learning a language on your own, the CL-150 can make your task much quicker and easier. It also serves as an excellent complement to other methods of language learning, such as classes. The content available through this portal is suitable for a variety of levels and comes in wide range of languages. By registering, you will have a chance to explore all of the programs and content we offer.
Is it free?
Yes. Use of the CL-150 is free to all members of a CL-150 Licensed Community. If you have been given an authorization code by your administrator, or if you have been given access to the CL-150 Portal through your organization's portal, then you are a member of such a community and you can use all of the CL-150 programs and content at no cost to you.
What is a CL-150 authorization code? Do I need one, and if so, where do I get one?
A CL-150 authorization code is a special code provided to you by your CL-150 Community Administrator. The authorization code serves as proof that you are a member of a CL-150 Community who is entitled to use the resources available through this portal. Some organizations require you to use an authorization code when you register as a CL-150 licensee. Other organizations allow their members to access the CL-150 Portal via their own portal without authorization codes. If you have questions about how your organization accesses the CL-150 Portal, contact your Administration Office.
Don't confuse your authorization code with your password. The authorization code gives you the ability to register as a licensee, but you will be prompted to enter a unique User ID and password during the registration process. After that, you will use your User ID and password when you want to log in to the portal.
How do I know who my CL-150 Community Administrator is?
To find your CL-150 Community Administrator, contact the Information Technology Officer or the help desk for your organization. If you cannot locate the administrator for your organization, you may contact Transparent Language's CL-150 Support team to ask for information.
Can I share my account?
No. After you have registered as a licensee, you will have a unique User ID and password that you can use to log in to the portal. You may not provide this information to any other individuals.
If you know any members of a US government organization or agency who are not registered as licensees but would like to be, ask those people to contact their administrators to ask for access to the CL-150 Portal.
Will I be able to make changes to my information after I register?
Yes. If you need to adjust your information for any reason, such as to provide a new email address or to change your password, you can do so by logging in, then clicking on your user ID.
